How to make your own DIY fabric face mask without sewing
I don’t know about you but I enjoy sewing but not everyone knows how to sew. When I first thought about writing this post, I was concern about all the people who wanted to make their own homemade masks but didn’t have the skills or tools to make the DIY face masks. So I found a way for anyone who wanted to make a homemade face mask can make one fast and easily! Below you can have my printable face mask templates emailed to you, there are 3 adult sizes for you to choose from.
Step 1: Pick a Face Mask Template and Cut It Out!
Just pick the size you want from the templates and print them out. Cut the face mask template out of the paper. Trace the template shape (full length or folded) onto a piece of cardboard, a cereal box works great for this. The cardboard pattern is sturdier and you can use it multiple times.
Step 2: Collect Your Face Mask Materials
With your cardboard template collect the rest of your materials you will need for your mask. You will need a pair of scissors, a washable marker, Sharpie, or a fine tip felt marker, and tee shirt you are willing to cut up. Now you are ready to make your homemade face mask.
Step 3: Trace Out Your Face Mask Pattern
Using your cardboard template and markers, trace the pattern on to the tee-shirt, flip the cardboard template over and line it up with pattern lines. It should look like a mirror image, just like in the example below.
Step 4: Cut Out Your Face Mask
Cut out the face mask patterns and you now have two completed masks! That was fast and easy, right!
If you cannot download files for any reason, or do not have access to a printer, here are the measurements for each mask pattern I have below. Just pick the size you want. Here is more information from the CDC on different face mask patterns. The original idea for these masks came from https://jennifermaker.com.

How to keep your glasses or your child’s glasses from fogging up when wearing a face mask!
If you wear glasses, then you will eventually run into the dread disorienting foggy glasses scenario! My whole family wears glasses, including my son and so, do many other children! My son doesn’t have to wear his glasses all the time. However, some kids don’t have the luxury of being able to go about their daily life without wearing their glasses. If a kid can’t see out of their glasses they will either not wear the glasses or they will not wear the mask.
This begs the question, why do glasses get foggy when are you wearing a face mask? This happens when the face mask directs most of the moist air you exhaled up towards the gap where your nose is. Unfortunately, that is where the back end of lenses are. The fogging occurs when the warm moist air condensing on the colder surface of your glasses. This causes tiny droplets to form, they scatter the light and reduce your ability to see out of the lens.
Dawn Dish Soap: Some people use a small drop of mild dish soap like Dawn on a soft cloth and apply it to the inside of the lens. Then let it dry and buff just enough of the soap off to provide clear vision. You can also try diluting the soap with some water and putting it into a spray bottle. Then you can spray it on your glasses like traditional anti-fog.
Toothpaste: Scuba diver’s trick on their diving masks. Make sure you use an old school toothpaste that doesn’t contain bleaching agents, whiteners, flavor crystals, or rubbing compound. Apply a thin layer on the lenses, then gently rinse it off with water and dry it with a soft cloth.
Shaving Cream: Applied the same way as the soap, using a small amount on a soft cloth and rubbing it over the lens. Then let them dry and buff off any additional residue.
Baby Shampoo: Apply with the same technique as dish soap and shaving cream.
Potatoes: Cut a wedge of the potato and rub the white part over the lens. Let them air dry then buff with a soft cloth until clean.
