When you decide to start your first blog, where do you start? What resources are successful bloggers using and where can you find them? I am going to share with you the tools and services I used when I created my first blog. Most of the resources I started out with are free or have a free trial which is great!

Plus, I will share with you another great tool at the end of my post that will help you with starting your online business. Why am I sharing this with you? Because I believe share is caring and most people who are learning to start their own blog, want to make money from it. There is nothing wrong with that. I’m doing it to help others so they don’t struggle through this process and to make money on the side as an affiliate marketer.

Resources to Start Your First Blog

What website hosting software do I use for my blog?

I use Bluehost to host my blog because it is quick and easy to use. You will not believe how much free training is out there on YouTube on how to use Bluehost for blogging. If you ever get stuck on how to do anything on your Bluehost blog you can find it on YouTube.

It is easier to use monetizing linking software like Sovrn (previously Viglink) on your blog posts than other blog hosting platforms. Sovrn is free and I use it on my site to create affiliate product links quickly and easily for my blog content, without creating a bunch of extra work. Other blog hosting services like WIX currently doesn’t allow Sovrn which can limit your earning potential.

The only reason I know this about WIX because I have used their service before. Also with Bluehost, I receive more bang for my buck with all the features. This is important when I was first starting out as a blogger on a budget. In all honesty, aren’t we all on a small budget when we first start out with our blog! I would highly suggest Bluehost to any new blogger and they also offer a free trial of their service!

I’m currently using ConvertKit because it is free for the first 1000 subscribers on your list. After that, it will cost $29 a month. This is a great email service provider to use when you are first starting out. ConvertKit is a popular email marketing service that is easy to use and very affordable. The free service includes most of the key features to create ad campaigns and access to marketing automation workflows. You can find great training videos on YouTube on how these features work, so you don’t have to worry about getting stuck! Plus I can use ConvertKit with my blog and Click Funnels, which is a powerful sales funnel tool.

I would highly recommend ConvertKit to any new blogger!
